Photos from my South America trip, March 2008
In March this year, I was on a three-week vacation in the Andes mountains, in South America. It was a group trip with 21 people in total. We started in Santiago de Chile in the south, where we also saw the old colonial city of Valparaiso by the coast. Then we flew north to the Atacama desert, and from there drove to South-Western Bolivia. Both places share this dry, empty landscape - it has the most beautiful sceneries and the most fantastic nature. After that, we went further north, by train and bus to the capital of Bolivia, La Paz. From there, we went to Cusco in Peru via the Titicaca lake and saw lots of historical Inca sites, most noticeably Machu Picchu. Finally, we flew to Lima and back home to Denmark via Madrid.
It was a very exciting trip, filled with experiences, and I especially enjoyed the nature sights of Atacama and South-Western Bolivia. I have never experienced anything like it, and I think it will take a very long time to experience anything remotely as wonderful. If ever.
Machu Picchu was also an experience, and I am glad to have learned more about the Inca people - and of the other peoples in the Andes from before the Conquistadors arrived.
I hope the photos will be interesting to other people than myself - I know that I will myself enjoy looking at them in the future and remember the sights and experiences from this trip.
