Costume party?
"You did what?!" Hephaistion's outraged voice rang through the chamber, as he stalked towards Alexander.
"Um, yeah. I mean… I thought…" Hardly had Alexander uttered these immortal words, before Hephaistion's flying form was upon him, and instinctively, he ducked out of the way. The advisor may have spent most of his time in the library these past centuries, but Alexander had never forgotten the impressive warrior from the battlefields, and he wasn't taking any chances. A crashing sound made him wince, and instinctively he turned around, worrying about Hephaistion. After all, the dark-haired advisor had spend quite a lot of time indoors lately.
Moments later he regretted. Hephaistion had him pinned up against the nearest book-case, an arm across his throat, and a knee where no knee should right-fully be. Well, perhaps not at according to the rules of fair-play. Hephaistion did know about fair-play, didn't he? He always used to be the one to yield…
"You were saying?"
By the sound of his voice, it was clear that Hephaistion was still angry, but Alexander felt, more than heard, a tremor of excitement beneath the anger. Interesting.
Hephaistion appeared to be having entirely too much fun with this, Alexander thought. And all just because I wanted to do something nice for him, for once. And it would have been fun, too, to see the haughty Elven nobles being asked to dress up as horses for the party. Noble horses, of course, but horses nonetheless. Not that he would have gone through with it, he was not that stupid, but the court was entirely too stuffy, and it would have been nice to see them a bit rattled, in all their finery.
"Yes, I thought you'd like it! Let go!" Alexander fought helplessly against the tight hold, must be all those heavy tomes he lifts, he thought, when suddenly he felt Hephaistion give in, and they ended up in a tangle on the floor.
"So you thought I'd like that? Ah, my hero! As much as I like seeing them rattled, I'd much rather see you rattled", Hephaistion said, smiling.
As Alexander heard the last words, he felt Hephaistion shift in his embrace, and once again he couldn't help wonder at how well their bodies fit against each other, even when they were fighting. He was glad to know that he could still surprise Hephaistion though, after all this time.
